Since his casting in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was revealed last month, there has been a lot of curiosity about William Jackson Harper’s character.
However, we may finally know who he is playing.
As soon as it was revealed last month that William Jackson Harper, who is nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his work on A Good Place and Midsommar, had signed on for an unnamed role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, rumors started to fly.
A new rumor now suggests that Harper will make his MCU debut as a completely new character who hasn’t been in the comic books, contrary to the earlier fan-casting speculation that he might be playing Reed Richards.
Harper is portraying “Quaz,” who is referred to as “a telepath who is a part of a rebel faction against Kang,” according to Daniel Richtman (via Patreon).
Is Quaz, a.k.a. Wendell Vaughn, a diminutive of Quasar? It’s possible, but Richtman appears to be fairly certain that this is a brand-new character.

For the time being, this is just a rumor, but it would make a lot more sense than just randomly introducing a new Mr. Fantastic (John Krasinski played a Variant of the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) in the Ant-Man sequel, and we already know Scott Lang and company will interact with a variety of different factions and civilizations when they become trapped in the Quantum Realm.
Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), two Super-Hero companions, are back in Quantumania to carry on their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp.
With Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) by their sides, the family finds itself exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures, and going on a journey that would push them beyond the bounds of what they thought was possible. Kang, played by Jonathan Majors, joins the quest.
Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard produce, and director Peyton Reed is back in charge of the project.
On February 17, 2023, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released in theatres.
