The Hollywood veteran has stated that he will not appear in another ‘8 Mile’ film.
8 Mile was primarily a semi-autobiographical narrative about Marshall “Eminem” Mathers III’s ascension. The Hip Hop superstar appeared opposite Kim Basinger, Brittany Murphy, Anthony Mackie, and Mekhi Phifer in the 2002 fictional drama.
Eight Mile has been in theatres for more than two decades. TMZ recently spoke with Mekhi Phifer to test his interest in a sequel to the battle rap-themed flick.
“Sometimes it’s best simply to leave it at one,” Mekhi Phifer said to the camera. “Sometimes it’s best to just let stuff alone. There’s no reason to mess with a classic once it’s created.”
The 48-year-old actor maintained his belief that 8 Mile 2 will never be made. “The tale that we told is the story,” Phifer continued. [A sequel] may be fun, but I wouldn’t be in it, and I’m sure Eminem wouldn’t either.”
In 8 Mile, Mekhi Phifer portrayed Future, a battle rap host. Eminem played aspiring rapper B-Rabbit in the film. The Imagine Entertainment/Universal Pictures production was directed by Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential).

8 Mile grossed over $116 million at the domestic box office and $242 million at the worldwide box office.”Lose Yourself” by Eminem received the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2003.The single also held her number-one spot on the Billboard 200 chart for 12 weeks.
In addition to her feature film debut in 8 Mile, Eminem has also appeared in other films such as The Interview and Bodied. The Detroit native made a cameo appearance as Whiteboy His Rick in his BMF television series produced by 50 Cent. Eminem has achieved legendary status in the music business.
He has five number-one songs on the Hot 100 chart and ten number-one songs on the Billboard 200 chart. His 15-time Grammy Award winner has earned 61.5 million of his RIAA-certified units over his career, including three Diamond Awards (10 million units).
Mekhi Phifer’s film career includes starring roles in his Clockers in 1995, Soul Food in 1997, and Carmen in 2001.
A Hip Hopera, 2002 “Paid in Full” and 2007 “This Christmas”. His television resume includes stints in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Torchwood, House of Lies, Frequency, and Love and Victor.
